DESCRIPTION: Model LM-11 is
the newest model in the LOUD line. It is designed to give you maximum range AND
maximum comfort. It works
exceptionally well for classical OR jazz playing. The LM-11 was designed as a
solo mouthpiece to accommodate the extreme demands of modern F tuba playing.
However, it is extremely versatile, and it can be used as a primary BBb/CC tuba
mouthpiece for those who prefer a narrower inner diameter. It is also another
great choice as a beginner mouthpiece, due to the narrow inner diameter and the
“comfort quotient”.
So many F tuba mouthpieces have sharp inner edges to
compensate for the shortcomings of brass. But, with the outstanding response
and flexibility factors now associated with stainless steel mouthpieces, you
can have a crystal clear sound in the high register, and amazing response and
flexibility, without a sharp inner edge.
The rim is
actually NOT cushioned. In fact, it is quite flat in the center, but has a nice
comfortable radius rolling into the cup.
Without
question, if you are an F or EEb tuba player and you are looking for a
super-comfortable extended high range mouthpiece with great intonation, great
flexibility, and great response…. then, you’ve found it! If you are comparing
this to the LM-15… The LM-11 is slightly wider and slightly deeper than the
LM-15, which assists with the low range demands of solo tuba literature. The
LM-15 is specifically designed for ONLY high range playing. The LM-11 is
designed to move quickly from the low register into the upper register, and
have an incredible singing-type sound in the high range.
This is my
