DESCRIPTION: Model LM-6 is a brand new design for the BBb/CC tuba player. I am absolutely convinced this will set the tuba world on fire and be our biggest seller for years to come. It is marvelous. The LM-6 has the quintessential tuba sound. It’s dark when you need it to be dark. When you ascend through the higher dynamics, it responds with ease, and sounds incredible. You just FEEL stronger when you play this mouthpiece.

The LM-6 provides an exceptionally strong feeling of security through the rim. It is the perfect marriage between a flat, Helleberg-type rim, and a cushioned rim. It’s flat where it needs to be flat (to give all the response & flexibility that you need), and very slightly rounded where the sharp brass rims fail to accommodate the player (putting undue stress on the chops).

The LM-6 is closely related to the LM-7, but the LM-6 has a slightly wider, flatter rim than the LM-7, improving response and flexibility. Since there is more mass on your chops, endurance is also improved. The cup depth is very close to the LM-7. It is a medium, funnel-style cup.

It is a fantastic mouthpiece, with a warm, projecting sound that is dark, but incredibly focused.
It has response characteristics and a feeling of security that I have never experienced with
ANY other mouthpiece. Ever! The LM-6 is my new do-everything mouthpiece. – JOE MURPHY

Best I've used so far December 18, 2012

The LM-6 has a nice weight to it, heavier than the Pt-88, but lighter than my Mike Finn.

On the face, the metal isn't a hard feeling. It feels "natural", however you want to take that. Higher notes seem to come out more clearly and with more ease than any other mouthpiece I've used (From G3 to F4 range). The lower range (Bb1 to C1) is where the LOUD name really comes into play. If played controlled and not blasting, that range sounds like the pipes of an organ.

Overall I am very pleased with this mouthpiece and would recommend it to a few of my friends.

Fantastic, versatile mouthpiece June 21, 2012

I've been playing an LM-6 since last November.  I don't use anything else in my CC tuba these days.  The sound is big but focused, and the response is AMAZING.  Accuracy issues are near zero.  The upper register response is fantastic for a medium-large mouthpiece and I've actually used it for some F tuba applications.  This is a great versatile mouthpiece.  Try it for yourself and see.
