"All I can say about my new Rick Baptist Studio Model is, for the last 30
years I have played on literally the same mouthpiece for everything I do.
Steve [Patrick] sent me this piece and I fell in love with a mouthpiece all over again.
The rim is SOOOO comfortable and I am now using it on everything that comes at
me in Los Angeles. Soft, Loud, Hard, Easy, Legit or Big Band. If you play a 3c or bigger, you will love how this mouthpiece feels on your chops.
This mouthpiece is the best I have ever used, or ever will. I am sold on Loud Mouthpieces.
Try it, you will love it too!"

Our design philosophy: Give each and every brass player the best tools available to maximize his or her potential in every ensemble setting imaginable. All of our designs are created by professional musicians who use these mouthpieces EVERY DAY.
- Why did we choose the name LOUD MOUTHPIECES?
By using innovative mouthpiece design and SOLID STAINLESS STEEL construction, our mouthpieces will increase your volume, improve your accuracy and maximize your tone quality with the SAME AMOUNT OF EFFORT you've been using all along.
YOU WILL SOUND LOUDER AND HAVE MORE PRESENCE WITH THE SAME AMOUNT OF EFFORT FROM LOUD MOUTHPIECES.
- Why SOLID STAINLESS STEEL construction?
The density, hardness and vibration characteristics of the surgical grade stainless steel are the key elements!
There are two reasons why stainless steel simply out-performs brass, bronze or any other soft metal.
- When a mouthpiece is constructed out of any "soft" metal and then PLATED with silver or gold, it will vibrate. These vibrations travel out the side of the mouthpiece. ANY VIBRATION THAT DOESN'T GO STRAIGHT INTO YOUR INSTRUMENT DECREASES YOUR VOLUME, THINS YOUR TONE QUALITY AND BLURS ARTICULATIONS.
Stainless steel vibrates less than brass or bronze. This fact alone gives you - the player - MAXIMUM PROJECTION, INSTANT ARTICULATION RESPONSE AND A MUCH DEEPER AND MORE VIBRANT TONE QUALITY.
- Stainless steel feels smoother on your face than a brass mouthpiece.
WHAT TYPE OF SURGICAL GRADE STAINLESS STEEL DO WE USE AT LOUD MOUTHPIECES AND WHY DOES IT MATTER?
At LOUD MOUTHPIECES, we truly use the highest grade stainless steel available. For those of you who enjoy studying materials of the Periodic Table of Elements, here’s your lesson in alloy study. Keep in mind, the HARDER the characteristic of the metallic composite, the SMOOTHER it feels on your face!!
The primary reason that we use Stainless Steel is because of it’s HARDNESS quality. Remember, if the mouthpiece vibrates LESS, then MORE of your sound goes into the instrument (instead of escaping out the walls of the mouthpiece).
The secondary benefit of Stainless Steel relates to brass players who are allergic to some of the materials in brass mouthpieces. Some are allergic to the Copper. Some are allergic to the Zinc. Others are even allergic to pure Silver that brass mouthpieces are plated with. So many brass players with these known allergies have found RELIEF by using Stainless Steel mouthpieces.
Since we’re looking for HARDNESS, the 300 Series of Stainless Steel has the hardest composites available (i.e. it has the highest levels of Chromium). There ARE 300 levels of Stainless Steel that are NOT considered “Surgical”. Obviously, we want to stay away from those.
The Surgical Grades of Stainless Steel that we use at LOUD are: 304, 304L. These are the highest grades of Stainless Steel available for this application. These are VERY difficult to machine! The 304 and 304L grades have a hardness rating of 92Rb (1-100 “Rockwell B” scale). It can take up to FIVE TIMES longer to machine a Stainless Steel mouthpiece than a brass mouthpiece of the same size.
We are committed to manufacturing the BEST MOUTHPIECES AVAILABLE for YOU!! Period.
Our SURGICAL GRADE SOLID STAINLESS STEEL MOUTHPIECES will not scratch and pit like a regular brass mouthpiece. Take a look at your current mouthpiece. Chances are you'll see all kinds of imperfections on the rim (scratches, pitting, chipping). All of these factors put stress on the embouchure and can actually cause pain when playing a high dynamic levels.
Our mouthpieces are incredibly smooth, thus reducing stress on the embouchure and allowing you to play at extremely high dynamic levels with no discomfort to your embouchure. By being smooth and comfortable on your face, we can use a sharper inner edge and a flatter rim which increases your accuracy and improves the articulation response time. You will feel as if the note begins THE INSTANT you articulate it.
Thank you for your interest in our mouthpieces and as always...
Play LOUD!!
